UPDATE: EMIS

Just a little update: A lot of important tasks were ticked off from my TO-DO list:

First of all, EMIS is an authorized IBO school since June, but finally made it up on the ibo.org page at the beginning of the month.
Check it out here:  EMIS on the IBO site  and New IB schools

On July 8th I received the information that my visa is ready to be picked-up
I went to the Israel embassy twice, july 23rd and 24th, to hand in all my documents and secondly to pick up my visa in my passport the next day. So now I have a VISA!

As well I booked my flight on Wednesday, july 23rd. It is a direct flight powered by Austrian Airlines.
July 13, EMIS confirmed that it is okay if I write for Spiegel, Austausch Log and a day later the
EMIS Journalism club was created. We are currently working pretty hard to get the blog set up, so that we can start to post about our expectations/feelings/preparations etc. I will be publishing the link of BlogEMIS soon! I am part of the leadership group and I am definitely looking forward to get the blog growing!

Pita

Last time that I went to the store, I saw this:
I immidiaetly had to put it into my basket and purchase it.
I only had three of them yet. Once in a restaurant with a couple of friends, and two on the airplane to and from Tel Aviv.
I am not exactly sure yet how I am going to prepare them but I am definitely looking forward to try them and hopefully I will enjoy the israeli dish.

5000 pageviews + blog instruction

WOW! I was shocked when I opened my blog today to see that 5000 people took a look at my blog. I literally had to stop for a moment and take a second to stare at it.
I had people visiting my blog from Poland, Belgium, Great Britan, Canada, Ireland, Spain, France, Japan, New Zealand,.... and even Venezuela, Albania, Pakistan, Argentinia, Hong Kong and Russia.
More than 200 visitors already came along from the US and Germany and even more than 100 from Austria.

I want to thank every single one of you for taking the time to read my blog or a post. I really think that it is insane that there already so many visitors out there, yet my journey didn't even start.

So I want to take a moment to explain you some new features on my blog:
1. At the end of every post there is a line that says: "How do you feel? :S, :), :D" You can simply tick a box to show me what you think about it.
2. My blog allows you to comment on each post and page I wrote. You can enter your first name but it is not necessary for you to enter your full name.

Maybe you want to give it a try? I would really appreciate your involvement! :)
I am looking forward to see how you feel about everything and to feedback so I m able to improve!

A huuuge thank you,

- Anna S.K.

"How do you know the world, if you have never been an exchange student?"

"How do you know what is a dream if you never accomplished one.
How do you know what is an adventure if you never took part in one.
How do you know what is anguish if you never said goodbye to your family and friends with your eyes full of tears.
How do you know what is being desperate, if you never arrived in a place alone and could not understand a word of what everyone ...else was saying.
How do you know what is diversity if you never lived under the same roof with people from all over the world?
How do you know what is tolerance, if you never had to get used to something different even if you didn’t like it.
How do you know what is autonomy, if you never had the chance to decide something by yourself? How do you know what it means to grow up, if you never stopped being a child to start a new course? How do you know what is to be helpless, if you never wanted to hug someone and had a computer screen to prevent you from doing it.
How do you know what is distance, if you never, looking at a map, said “ I am so far away”.
How do you know what is a language, if you never had to learn one to make friends.
How do you know what is patriotism, if you never shouted “ I love my country” holding a flag in your hands.
How do you know what is the true reality, if you never had the chance to see a lot of them to make one.
How do you know what is an opportunity, if you never caught one.
How do you know what is pride, if you never experienced it for yourself at realizing how much you have accomplished.
How do you know what is to seize the day, if you never saw the time running so fast.
How do you know what is a friend, if the circumstances never showed you the true ones.
How do you know what is a family, if you never had one that supported you unconditionally .
How do you know what are borders, if you never crossed yours , to see what there was on the other side.
How do you know what is imagination, if you never thought about the moment when you would go back home.
How do you know the world, if you have never been an exchange student?"

PS:  I do not own this text. I was not able to find the original writer of this.

Grand Prix Austria

Last sunday, June 22 2014, was Grand Prix in Austria.
It is also called "Großer Preis von Österreich" and took place in Spielberg in Styria. The first Grand Prix took place in Austria in the year 1964. Dietrich Mateschitz bought the race ring in the earlier 2000, where he started to build a motor sport center. It was then stopped due to a negative environmental compability test. In 2011 the ring was reopened and three years later the first Grand Prix was back.

On friday, June 20, Vettel had a meet up in an austrian shopping center in Vienna. This is where I took the picture.

I watched the Grand Prix on TV, unfortunately I was not able to make my way to Spielberg to see it live, as I did last year in Montréal, where I saw Grand Prix du Canada.

Flea market

A couple of weeks back  I went to a flea market in Vienna to sell some of my old stuff. It started at 1pm and lasted for three hours. I sold a bunch of it and put the money I received into my EMIS box, which I'll show you in another post. :)

Belvederes Besuch - unser Gedichtsversuch

Belvederes Besuch - unser Gedichts-versuch

I wrote this poem with three classmates in german class.
